	This Week - 1st February 2006 Dear Minnows and Parents, What a great weekend at Coogee Beach: Congratulations to the whole club for a huge effort from Friday to Sunday. With Friday and the Ch 7 Sunrise Team the Minnows had a lot of fun, and were seen across the nation - some even thought our giving of the Minnows Towel Ceremony was similar to that of a major event in 2000 in Sydney. Sunday presented a big day on the beach with Handicap Day and the Kelloggs Nutri Grain Series. Again the Coogee Minnows showed their class with a well organised and enthusiastic bunch of kids giving their all on the main stage. The effort from all the kids was wonderful and to hear the crowds supporting the kids was a great feeling. ..... This Weekend ..... Coogee Carnival - Coogee Minnows BBQ Sat 4th Feb This Saturday from 8.00am -approx 2.30pm is the Annual Coogee Minnows BBQ at the Coogee SLSC Carnival at the beach. This is an annual event, and helps raise funds for the Minnows, new boards etc - it's our biggest BBQ for the year.... and we need your help. On Saturday we need volunteers to assist in both cooking the snags and running the till on the day: The BBQ is on the Promenade next to the kiosk and we need as many volunteers as we can - even if you can give 1/2- 1 hr would be great The Minnows BBQ is the main food location on the beach and it is a very, very busy day, so please take up the option and come on down and give us a hand. Please advise if you can give some time, it's a lot of fun and a great PR job for the Minnows. This Sunday Feb 5th is as per our Calendar Teams Day 3 - Ironman & Diamond Lady 10-11 & 12-14. Under 11's Dev Camp This Sunday is Teams Day at the Beach This has been a very successful new format this year and one that will continue on for the next season - so well done everyone. I will be away with the Under 11's this week and at Branch the following week so I will see you on the 19th. John Costigan will be running the ship on Sunday. ...... The Following Weekend ...... Sydney Branch Carnival - 12th Feb Bondi Beach: The Annual Branch Carnival is on the 12th Feb from 7.45am till 4.00pm This Carnival is for Minnows who are competitive, and want to go to represent Coogee - To compete at this Carnival you should be finishing in the top 1-5 of your races at Coogee each week. Parents must attend with their child. There are races for all age groups from 8 - 14's There will be approx 2,00+0 Nippers on the beach this day, so its a pretty big day out and a long one. Coogee Minnows will be organising Transport to go as parking will be a struggle If you are interested in going please advise your Age Manager this Sunday ( if away with the Under 11 Dev Camp - please advise me by e-mail) Please Note: To compete at the State Carnival in March, you must attend and compete at the Branch Carnival on behalf of Coogee Minnows.
