This Week - January 11th 2006

Dear Minnows Team,

Well for all of those of you who have been waiting, here we are back on the beach this weekend Sunday the 14th Jan 2007 at 8:45am

The first few weekends will be focussed on lifesaving skills for the 9's-14's

This will include board and tube rescues and some basic first aid. Depending on numbers we may be combining into a couple of groups on the day

Please note that no apparel will be available till the 21st Jan (we will be opening for the Dolphin Camp only on the 18th)

Dolphin Camp Surf Skills Jan 18th-19th Coogee Beach

For those parents who have their Bronze and are attending the camp can you please advise so we can roster the WS Team

For those parents who don't have their Bronze, and are attending the camp can you please advise so we can roster the BBQ Team

At this stage the camp is full but if you are interested please advise and we can look at a reserve list.

Bush Nippers see www.bushnippers.com.au

The winners of the Westpac Bush Nippers arrive next week and join us for the Surf Camp and Nippers on Sunday 21st Jan 2007 (with our special guest - the olympic star)

This should be a great opportunity to make some new friends and share with these kids from around Australia what we do at Coogee Minnows. The winners are coming from Mt Newman in WA, Toowoomba in QLD. Hamilton in Vic, and Barellan in NSW. The age groups are 2 x Under 9's and 2 x Under 10's - boys and girls

Australia Day

On the 26th a group of Coogee Minnows will be heading out to Sydney Harbour to take part in the Nipper Harbour Paddle

ALL entrants in the NIPPER SURFBOARD CHALLENGE including UNDER 14’s are required to paddle a nipper board maximum length 2.0m either junior (nipper) FOAM or FIBREGLASS.

From here it's off to Development Camp for some of the Under 11's in early Feb, then the Minnows Branch Team is off to Sth Maroubra for the Sydney Junior Branch Championships in mid Feb

In March we will see the final of the Kelloggs Nutri Grain at Coogee with our Minnows competing on the day in front of 12,000 people - a huge day out

We look forward to seeing you all back for the second half of the season.

>>>>>Sunday - What a great day! - with some beautiful sunshine at Coogee as Clovelly hosted the Randwick Shield.

The carnival was a huge success and all the events went very well - well done to South Maroubra and Maroubra for the Shield and the Robbo Relay.

A big thank you to all the team who assisted in officiating, providing water safety and helping to set up the beach - what a team and well done Warren in getting the All Age Relay and Robbo Relay teams together.

There were heaps of smiling faces around on Sunday, and from all reports many of the Coogee kids went extremely well in all parts of the competition.

This Sunday is the Express Glass Island Challenge so there are no Nippers on on this Sunday, (we are back on the 3rd Dec) but it is worth coming down to either compete, help out, or just watch everyone have a big swim out to sea.

For all those kids who are interested in the Nippers Harbour Paddle on Jan 28th 2007 please check the SLSNSW web site for the the registration details - I have been advised that registration should be open this week.

The Dolphin Surf Camp in January continues to get bigger, and it looks like we will have some exciting news soon on some special guests on the two days - just think major Olympic Swim Star. For all those kids who do board training on Fridays I do hope you are all going to be joining us at the Camp.

The SRC team are putting in the hard yards and from all reviews - they are doing very well in this course - thanks to Mark, Tom and Ian for the effort.

We only have two more weeks left for the first part of the season, with myself and the Under 13 Dev Camp crew away the week of the 3rd Dec

On the 10th Dec we will be having our Major Sponsors presentation for the new Racing Boards and Santa will be joining us for our Christmas Party.
